2016 Temperature Blanket

Hi Everyone!! I'm sure you've seen the tons of posts on Pinterest and Facebook about making a temperature blanket!

I've tried making one of these before and lost my interest so I never finished it. BUT this year I think I'm really going to do it.

One example of your yarn choices.
This year is special, why you ask? because it's a LEAP YEAR, which means this year has an even number of days! Perfect for a Corner to Corner blanket!! What my plan is is to use the chart below (I'm using Red Heart Super Saver and I liked that there is a wider range of colors in this chart) and create my blanket, Increasing from now until June, and then decreasing for the rest of the year.
I am also not great with doing *1 row a day* type projects, so I'm keeping a Temperature log in my datebook as a reference, noting the sky conditions (sunny, cloudy, rain, snow) the temperature and also the yarn color. I was originally wanting to make a C2C square for each month and join them at the end of the year, but because the months are all not equal with days they wouldn't be the same size and I thought it would look weird. So. That's my plan! I'm going to purchase some of the wintery colors now and get started!

This is the chart I'm using! (i will add stitches of rain and snow instead of the whole row)

Not into the idea of a Temperature blanket? How about a mood blanket? You could use the same principle ( a row a day) and use a different color based on your mood for the day. No matter what project you choose it should be a fun way to work on your crochet for the whole year!

Double Layer Braided Cowl

This gorgeous cowl has been making the rounds on Facebook all week. Once I saw it I decided I had to give it a shot.

I love how this came out! It was so easy to make and I enjoyed picking out an ombré color scheme to show off the braiding. The best part is it's a free pattern! There is also a video tutorial for the new stitches.

WIP (Work In Progress) FREE Printable!

If you're like me and have a short crafting attention span, then you may get some use out of this printable! It's a FREE downloadable pdf with two WIPs per sheet. You can print them on cardstock so they're a little more durable.

What I do is put my WIP in a clear bag and slip this card right in front so my projects are all nice and organized.

I've made one for knitting and one for crochet.

I hope you like them!

Chunky Chevron Blanket

I have been wanting to make this blanket for months, and I finally did! I love how it came out, I adore everything Chevron and was so excited to do this project. It worked up super fast (a nice weekend project) I'm planning on making another one and doubling the chain so it's bigger. This was a free pattern from Lion Brand (you need to have an account with Lion Brand to view it but the pattern is free!)

The only things I did differently was change the hook from a 10.00mm to a 12.00mm. (Best Hooks Ever!!) I also added a border. The yarn I used was Bernat Blanket Yarn in Light Teal, Dark Grey and Sweet Cream from the baby line. The link shows a 150g ball which I've only seen the large ones in stores ($9.99 each) for this blanket I used a little over 1 skein of the teal and grey and less than one of the sweet cream.

The size is a big lapgahn, Perfect for cozying up on the couch with the fireplace roaring, and of course, a new project on your hook!
