Legend of Zelda Graph C2C Lap Blanket

Another project is finished! I'm so happy that it's done. My wonderful husband is a big fan of the Legend of Zelda games and I couldn't resist making him this graph.

The finished blanket measures around 40x32 inches and is more for display/lap blanket than to be practical however, I love the finished product and I'm proud of it! It took me awhile due to my struggle with the seemingly endless color changes (weaving in ends took FOREVER!). I had originally planned for a fabric backing but changed my mind once the border was on.

Here is where you can find the original graph I used. I just printed out the image and crossed off each row as I went. I also find it easier to number my rows and columns so its easier to remember what side you're working on.

For the border I did this one by the crochet crowd. I did 3 rows in blue and one in black to finish it off.

All those ends!! And this is about half of them!

I used mostly Red Heart Super Saver for the colors, except for the background color, Dark grey and the black, they were all Caron One Pound in Sky Blue, Dark Grey and Black.

I am going to be trying a new technique known as the Magic Knot for any future projects with lots of color changes. NO ends to weave in.  Click the link for a video tutorial!

Before the border

Easter!

I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Easter!

We had a great day with our family and I just love having holidays at our new home. I love having everyone together. I didn't take too many pictures but I did get one of the centeripece I did for our table.

I used peonies, hydrangeas and some stick thinkies from JoAnn's and for the vase I just used an existing vase and put scrap book paper along the inside.

And this is the Bunny Bait. Another recipie inspired by pinterest.

I used:

Plain Popcorn

Pretzel Sticks

Pretzel M&M's

White chocolate (melted and poured on)

Sprinkles (or where I'm from, Jimmies)

After it set up I broke it up and put it into bags for the kids.

S'mores Cupcakes

ok i'm really late on posting this, as i made these for the superbowl. but after i collected myself after my team's loss i forgot that i had taken pictures of the finished product. and what do you know, a whole month went by (and then some!)
So here are the cupcakes, chocolate cake batter, a fluff buttercream icing, topped with crushed grahm crackers and a nibblet of chocolate.

I think they came out pretty darn good, considering i made them from scratch! (my first batter) i did get the recipe from Pinterest Here.

Crescent Rolls pizzas
Everything was super yummy, i just wish the game had had a different ending, oh well. Better luck next year!

I've seen a few versions of the "52 things i love about you" project going around and i decided to make it for the husband for one of his X-Mas gifts. He loves superman so it was only fitting that i used superman playing cards, for the front i used a comic book font, and should've continuted that througout the book but i had already started glueing the paper to the cards and didn't want to start over. meh. hindsight is 20/20. i still love how it came out and i can't wait to give it to him!

not being a pro (yet) with the hot glue gun i'd say it came out pretty good! i'm probably going to do a different one for next year but not bad for my first go at it! once again, thank you Pinterest for the inspiration!

Materials used: Paper Mache "D" from Jo-Ann fabrics around $3.00, boxes of mini ornaments on sale $2.99 per box (i bought 6 boxes and any leftover ornaments will go on our tree), string of silver beads, $7.99. Spool of black ribbon $2.99, and my lovely hot glue gun.

Pinterest

i've been holding off on writing this post and i don't really know why. ever since i've been exposed to the fabulosity that is Pinterest i've been hooked. i've actually made a couple of the projects that i've seen on there.
The only thing i've taken a picture so far is:

The Lyric Tree from Etsy

The idea is to use any lyrics from a special song. Very cute wedding/anniversary gift.

My version:

The writing in the tree is our wedding song, and i cut out small hearts with our initals on them, put the whole thing in a shadow box with some scrapbook paper accents and called it a day. i had seen this on Pinterest and followed the link to the Etsy page where it was being sold for $65. So after repurposing a frame, this cost me a whopping $0 to make!

i'm loving how pinterest is awakening the creative side of me again, which i love. i love being able to use my hands and make things. i'm working on a couple of new projects that i will be posting soon.
